stripping for the holidays
This updating schedule I've got for PE(aott) is something I like. Last week was a miss because of our weekend-long trip. Even though I wanted not to miss strip dates that week, I'm just busy in the evenings; I don't seem to have time during the week to do the strip. What's interesting (to me, at least) is when I'm preparing to go on vacation, I seem to be able to get plenty of strips done. During Thanksgiving week and this week, when I'm on vacation for the majority of the week, I had (and have) a full MWF compliment of strips that will show up on the site. But on this Christmastime vacation I shall return in the middle of next week and I don't have any PE(aott) strips prepped for that week. I'd like to get at least one more done this evening, but we'll see if that happens in the midst of crazy panicked packing.

Spade-wise, we do have two weeks of Spade strips coming up, covering this and next week's strips. Only eight strips for the next two weeks, I'm afraid. We're into the semesters when Atlantis Tillman was editor-in-chief of the Battalion. Under her stewardship, the comics (both Matt's and mine, along with two horrible, horrible strips) seemed to get bumped about once a week due to lack of space. (But she was aitch-oh-tee hot, so I didn't mind much.)

The sad thing about Spade is it's coming to an end within the next few months. The book compilation that I'm scanning these in from has far too few strips left. However, I know that the book doesn't have the last week's worth of strips -- the book came out before the end of the semester; Matt kept publishing the strip until semester's end. Matt also continued the strip in the Daily Cougar, The University of Houston's paper, a year or so later. He also syndicated a version of the strip to dozens of college newspapers for a semester or two after that. Matt also tried his hand at a webcomic version called "Gangbusters". Alas, I do not have any of these post-Battalion strips to republish. I'll see if he's still got these strips sitting around.

UPDATE: At the parent's house where there's a new computer with a scanner, so there will be a PE(aott) strip for Monday, the 27th. (And maybe one for Wednesday the 29th?) It'll be a temporary strip -- I don't have the Tim Sale font on this computer, nor do I have my copies of Photoshop and Illustrator. I'm working with GIMP which is... very difficult to use if one is used to Photoshop. Anyway, the next week strips will have to be re-done once I'm back home. Ainsley doesn't have her bluish tint, nor do the borders line up properly, and the dialogue font looks horrid.

It looks like crazy panicked packing won out, so unless Mom's computer gets a scanner, the fonts I use on a regular basis, and Photoshop (or Gimp) installed on it, I won't be able to get PE(aott) strips done for next week until I get back.
