Texas is not only the state of my birth, where I lived for the longest stretch of my life, and my favorite state in the Union, it's also where the city of Independence, the city where Moriarty, Dextrose, Monika, and Janet live, is located.

Many locations in Independence have real-world counterparts in College Station, Texas. Stardance, a nightclub featured in the very first strip published online, is really Sundance, a nightclub/danceclub that used to be at the Hilton. Stacie's Bar is really Duddley's Draw. The noticeboard Moriarty and Janet were hanging out in front of during the "Out" storyline is by the student center.

There actually is an Independence, Texas. PE(aott)'s Independence is not the same city.
