Okay, the very very first version of the comic strip appeared in a church bulletin for the Church of Christ's "Aggies For Christ" group back when I was in college. The strip, crudely drawn, didn't get into the Texas A&M Battalion, but a friend of mine (Kenny LeCroy) said he wanted something funny to be published in the blank space the bulletin had.

This was the way the first few strips ran. Horrible art with a decent storyline. When "the strip with no name" was published in the AFC Scoop, I was able to build up several strips for my next attempt for publication in The Battalion.
