commentary

Of all the other strips you've seen during Filler Week, this is the only one from (the story so far...). As the semester was ending, I had decided that I wanted to move to something a bit more interesting, so I ended the strip. With about two months to go, the INS agents came in and deported Dextrose to Mexico.

The "more interesting" idea I worked on was Tempus Fugitives, also revived on TheSnakeFarm.com. Tempus Fugitives was unfinished when it was published in the Battalion. I stopped doing Tempus Fugitives when it became obvious that nobody was reading the strip. In an odd coincidence, Tempus Fugitives ended in the Battalion right about where it languishes in the new version. If I ever get some free time, I'm going to finish the work.

In the original AFC Scoop run, the only three characters were Moriarty, Monika, and Dextrose. Moriarty and Monika weren't brother and sister. Moriarty had a brother who was dead and called him collect. In the current PE(aott) storyline, Moriarty and Monika are brother and sister. They have no dead brother.

Janet appeared in (tssf...) as one of four members of her band, then called Pepe's Lost Tribe (named after the time Jeff, Mike, and I decided we wanted to form a band). Steve Jasperson, Monika's boyfriend, was dropped from (tssf...) before the midpart of the semester as were the other three members of Janet's band. Janet's band in PE(aott) is called pornstar.

Just to make this note even longer, Steve Jasperson was named after Mindy Jasperson, a girl I hung out with and we were good friends in an antagonizing way and I really didn't want to go out with her until I realized that I sort of did want to. Anyway, I wound up getting her in trouble with her friends this one time when Moriarty mentioned "one hell of a party Jasperson threw last night". See, Mindy and her friends knew I named the character after her. They thought I was referring to a real party that Mindy threw that her friends weren't invited to.

I think that's pretty funny.

Fixed
So for the longest time, the website has been broken and it's always been at the back of my mind to fix it one day and lo! behold! the magic fix just took about twenty minutes to hunt down and correct. So, sorry about that.

Have fun flipping through the comic strip and marvelling at how rough my artwork was so very very long ago.
