commentary

The building depicted here is the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center in downtown Manhattan. The glassed in hall you see here was a wonderful place to walk through. Tamara and I would often take the ferry over from Hoboken, walk through the plaza and through the Winter Garden. Just to the right was one of my favorite restaurants on the island.

Unfortunately, the walkway that led from the World Financial Center led to the World Trade Center.

The last time I saw the Winter Garden, all that was left was the framework for glassless windows. You can sort of make out the curve of this building directly to left of "CNN" in this strip.

I really liked the Winter Garden.

The building was resurrected as the Independence Museum of Modern Art.

Slightly more in-joke things: The logo for the Jade Falcon is really the logo for the Blackhawks, a comic book series DC Comics put out probably before you were born. The guard started off looking like Spade Phillips, from the comic strip "Spade Phillips, P.I.", but after I got done drawing him, I really don't think it looks like him at all.

Fixed
So for the longest time, the website has been broken and it's always been at the back of my mind to fix it one day and lo! behold! the magic fix just took about twenty minutes to hunt down and correct. So, sorry about that.

Have fun flipping through the comic strip and marvelling at how rough my artwork was so very very long ago.
