Moriarty as Stretch came about from the way I filled his hair with black. Halfway through inking in his hair, if I stopped right about there, I realized he looked a bit like Mister Fantastic.

Dextrose's character is a light version of the Martian Manhunter, but with an M instead of an X across his chest.

Monika's hairstyle always always always reminded me of a basset hound's ears. That, and I get to poke fun at my fellow cartoonists in The Nice. (The comic collective I'm a part of. It's heavily dominated by strips featuring anthroporphic characters.)
