commentary

Tim Cederoth owned the first real comic book store I ever found and loved. Tim's Corner was up at the intersection of 14th Avenue and 30th Street in Rock Island, Il. Each week, I'd bike the two miles there and back -- a mean feat for a pudgy kid like me -- or even (gasp!) walk there and back to get my weekly fix. It started off as a comic book store, with shelves of paperback books, all crammed into a small, little shop with two pinball games, a TRON arcade game, and little food stand thing in the back. (I'd always get a dog and a Dew. Best coney dogs ever, I tell you.) I moved out of the country in '86, but Tim kept me supplied with comic books for two years. I'd send him some money, he'd send me a box of comics. When I finally got back state-side, I asked him how much I still owed him for the comics he kept shipping out to me. Turns out neither one of us kept track.

Whenever I had the misfortune of going back to Rock Island, I'd always stop in and visit Tim's Corner. There was nothing for me in the Quad Cities. I don't have many fond memories of the place. When I visited my grandmother, the only other thing I wanted to do was head to Tim's.

Last time I was up there, Tim's Corner had vanished.

I have no idea whatever happened to Tim Cederoth, his brother Larry, or the store they ran together. Werewolf Tim needed a last name, so there we go.

Alleman High is the Catholic High School I attended between '84 and '86.

Fixed
So for the longest time, the website has been broken and it's always been at the back of my mind to fix it one day and lo! behold! the magic fix just took about twenty minutes to hunt down and correct. So, sorry about that.

Have fun flipping through the comic strip and marvelling at how rough my artwork was so very very long ago.
